Will be rigging a new '07 9.2 for the first time soon. Had it in storage for a few years. I remember the first time you rigged a new hansen formula/slalom sail you needed to do something with the tack of the sail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey,
You want to run the mast up through bottom cam, downhaul until thee is about 5-6cm between the tack and the blocks on the extension, and then pop the rest of the cams on. If its exceptionally difficult to get the rest of the cams on, you might need to add/ease the downhaul a cm or 2.

Then downhaul the rest of the way.

Cheers,

Jason

Thanks Jason,

I rigged the sail. Now I need to tune it. When I'm looking up the leech from the clew grommet (sail rigged on boom), how many battens should fall away/twist off? I believe it's all the way down to just above the boom, I'm just not sure. Any help and insight would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Jason H

I spent some more time tuning the 9.2. What I discovered was I was over down hauling the sail. I had 2 cms (measured block to block) too much downhaul. With less downhaul the sail looked much better with a nice shape and a deeper draft. I have sailed 2 days on the 9.2 with the improved tuning and I am pleased with the results. The tuning of the battens is straight forward- add tension until the vertical wrinkles are gone and then STOP.   See you on the water. Sail Fast and Sail Often
