WELCOME TO HANSEN SAILS
A new sail company with a simple mission: high performance, high quality and reasonable price.
Don't expect a lot of hype or flash. We are a small, dedicated group of
sailors working to make your sailing experience the absolute best and
nothing else. We're putting our effort into making sure our sails do
the job and allow you to realize your maximum potential on the race
course, in mast-high waves, nailing a new move or just drag racing with
your friends. There is a lot to say about who we are and how we expect
to succeed in such a specialized business. But, the reality is we have
the experience and dedication to accomplish our goals and intend to
prove it on the water one sail at a time. We'll let our sails do the
talking and when the time comes, we'll provide you with the utmost in
personal care and education so you will be informed, knowledgeable and
understand why they work so well and why they are the ultimate in
contemporary sailing technology.
Our first effort is at the top levels of professional racing with the
immediate release of our 2006 Formula sails. We have been active in
windsurf racing for 24 years and in yacht racing for over 35 years as
participants, designers and sailmakers. As founder and head designer at
Windwing since 1982, my goal has always been to make the highest
performing sails using technical knowledge, innovation. experience and
testing. We firmly believe the technology and experience gained from
racing at the top levels of the sport is the backbone of a serious sail
company. Our success there is proven and we are proud of it. It
separates us from the others and shows our ability to not only compete
but lead the way staying on the cutting edge against formidable
competition. Every Hansen sail will embody the technology gained from
racing and the blend of power, speed, point and handling will be
directed to the purpose of each sail in an efficient and sound manner.
Our second effort will be the release of a line of moderate to
high-wind shortboard Wave or Bump and Jump sails designed for RDM
masts. We have a vast experience with these sails and have been a
leader in their development and use since the introduction of the RDM
mast in the early '90's. Our line will be blended according to the
intended use and conditions for the sail's size allowing a consistent
feel and handling whether it be coastal surf, inland swell or freestyle
tricks. In this line, durability, range and ease of use will be the
prime criteria so you can sail with confidence and concentrate on your
improving ability rather than struggle with the ever-changing
conditions.
Our third effort will be the release of user-friendly high performance
'free-race' sails for the recreational sailor looking for simplicity
and durability with minimal sacrifice in speed and range. We also have
a long experience in this class of sails dating back to the mid '80's
with such well-known Windwing models like the Black Diamond Slalom,
Synthesis and more recently, Hammer. The emphasis will be on flat water
performance with race-proven technology blended into a no-nonsense,
durable and predictable sail capable of setting new personal standards
in your sailing ability and enjoyment.
Our final effort is the most important, To make sure every Hansen
customer is satisfied and confident in his choice. That means highly
engineered and structurally sound construction based on many years of
experience and ultimate customer service in terms of follow-up,
education and support. In this effort, an on-line forum where you can
openly discuss items of interest directly with us and others of similar
interest is our first project.
Not much else to say. We'll be working hard to make it happen one step
at a time and look forward to sharing our 'stoke' with sailors
world-wide who want the absolute best. As a part of this, Devon Boulon
who is a founding partner in our company, will campaign in major racing
events worldwide to demonstrate our new sails on the water and
introduce them to you in person.
Best regards,
